Paypal Phising Scam

Been seeing a large number of these Paypal scam emails recently. Of course it’s nothing new, they
regularly pop up from time to time but always useful to post them here as some people may fall
for them.

Dear PayPal Costumer,
It has come to our attention that your PayPal® account information needs to be updated as part of
our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website.
If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records
you will not run into any future problems with the online service. However, failure to update your records
will result in account suspension. Please update your records before March 15, 2010. Once you have updated
your account records, your PayPal® account activity will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

The email address that appears in the “from” field in your email client will of course be a genuine Paypal
email address, such as service@paypal.com however the real return address is apache@host4.hosting.amstergroup.com

The web site that they want you to visit is actually www.pimpyourweb.nl/templates/x_mos/1.php

Hopefully a few people might do a google search before they click on anything and with a little luck
they will end up here. If you have been a victim of one of these phishing attacks please let us know.
